Marine cables have low smoke emissions which is a fire safety measure. In the event of a fire, the cable does not generate high density smoke. A low dense smoke emission will speed up the efforts to extinguish the fire and lead to less considerable damage. Halogens are elements like bromine, fluorine, astatine and iodine that are all highly reactive to weather elements.
